Welcome
I’m Elizabeth Douglas – a social worker, counsellor and trauma sensitive yoga facilitator. I have been working alongside people recovering from traumatic experiences for the past 20 years.
I recognize that experiences of trauma and pathways to recovery are deeply personal and that trauma can profoundly impact our relationship to our mind, body and to others. Using a range of modalities, I create individualized approaches to support based on each person’s needs and choices. I aim to create a safe, warm and non-judgmental space where counselling (talk therapy), somatic processing tools and trauma sensitive yoga practices can be explored at a pace that suits the individual.
Services
Embodied Counselling
My approach to counselling is warm, collaborative and authentic. I bring 20 years of experience working with people to understand, process, integrate and recover from experiences of trauma. I aim to foster a safe and non-judgmental space where each individual has choice and control. I utilise body based somatic tools and an understanding of the neurobiology of trauma, alongside psychotherapies such as Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Trauma Sensitive Yoga
I’m a fully qualified yoga teacher who specialises in Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga, a non-verbal tool for processing trauma and befriending the body. In these sessions I aim to cultivate an environment that invites authentic connection to body, mind and choice making. I facilitate both group and individual session of Trauma Sensitive Yoga
